In memory of Lauren on her 4th Birthday, we decided to spend the day at Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, Vic. We have fond memories of Sorrento as it was our last family holiday together for Blake's 18th Birthday and Cam's Father's Day two weeks prior to losing Lauren. We decided to go back to The Baths restaurant at Sorrento for a lovely lunch together. After lunch we walked down to the foreshore. It was a glorious day and the wind was coming from the SE. We attached these message cards to each of four balloons and released them one by one. Attached to the cards were flower seeds - Forget Me Nots and Double Phlox (Fairy Queen). Some were enclosed in a small plastic bag for those who found the balloons and decided to plant the seeds and the others in tissue paper so they would hopefully seed themselves after the paper broke down. Either way, we hope these seeds will grow and bloom in her memory.
Later in the evening we had a small party and a cake at home with some friends. We also repeated the balloon release and let our friend's children each release the balloons. Far away in Iowa, USA some lovely people (friends from Nettie's Horseboard) also released some balloons in her honour. (photo attached).
Although it was a sad day without our precious little girl, I do believe she was watching and enjoyed the days activities and no doubt chasing the balloons. It was a lovely day all in all.
There will be photos and video footage to come shortly.
